Hello Vienna Angelika -
Swapping out halls and territories presents a golden opportunity, to dodge the hate and disappear.
right now the congregations in winnipeg are undergoing major boundary changes which will be put in action at the beginning of february.
our congregation is supposed to find out today but i decided to ask some people i knew who went the previous meeting if we were going to be put together with the people at our old congregation who are shunning me.
even though they knew, they refused to tell me because "the society" told them not to tell us.
Hello Vienna Angelika -
Swapping out halls and territories presents a golden opportunity, to dodge the hate and disappear.
a bit of background.
my 6 year old talks about god an awful lot.
well more than i'm comfortable with.
Hello not bitter -
No need to worry or intervene at all.
Your little one is having a wonderful time with her imagination- the greatest teaching aid EVER.
Soon she'll race back to you with the news that '..some people don't believe in god!!' - more things that need to be imagined upon.
Keep her path to your ears always open -she's already lucky to have a mom who cares so much.
read a very interesting opinion article on cnn last night.
"why i raise my kids without god".. .
the writer aluded to the fear of the possibility of one's life ending forever (along with our beloved children's).
Being raised on a farm has been a real asset.
As a little kid, helping with the livestock, you witness diverse and amazing cycles of life and death.
I doubt if many farm kids have to enquire as to were babies come from!
And so many ways to die - and certainly no guarantes that we'll all live long, or die old and tired like grandma or the family dogs.
Absolutely no necessity nor insinuation of an afterlife in the natural world, but what a joy to live our part - passing the love and preparations of our ancestors on to bless our children and theirs...
Works perfectly.
letter from the governing body.. .
dear brothers due to our failed attempts of interrupting scripture and completely false, multiple prophecies, we as the governing body are going to implement a few new changes to god's earthly organization.. .
we are not god's earthly organization.
Just imagine the joy, of liberating 7 million souls with just one letter.
i was recently on holiday aka "vacation" on a beautiful island, and turned a corner on a cliff top to see a wall with graffitti on it (ironically), "this world is a reflection of you - take care what you do with it.
" or words to that effect.
so i got thinking it's about dropping litter and stuff.
Ballistic
Everyone who is emotionally/spiritually well and educated, can't help but appreciate and value our total dependence, on the beautiful planet we share with so many other amazing forms of life.
I've alway been amazed how cultures and the people individually, long for the unique beauty of their native regions. on rocks by the oceans, vast flat prairies, mountainous, endless desert, even the polar ice expanses, all such places are the hearts desire of those that lived and were nurtured there. I feel reassured and content wherever in the world I see crops and livestock and trees because, I was raised on a farm and understand fully how all of mankind benefits from that particular enterprise.
We don't need any megalomanic dieties threatening to destroy it, or insane militarists to poison and 'scorch the earth' , nor the insatiably greedy pricks so eager to cut down, level, dig up, pollute and 'transform to profit' every earthly resource possible in their short lifetimes.
I feel that education, cooperation and appreciation are the keys to the only future we can envision.
in the english congregations they used to announce that brother x has been disfellowshipped.
but in the spanish congregations the announcement was made using the word expulsado (spanish)= expel in english.
when i look up the word disfellowship, this is what i found:.
suavojr-
Do you know the Spanish word for communion - to which jgnat made a connection?
background:.
i've come to the conclusion that many doctrines of the wts are unscriptural after many years of privately disagreeing with some of them but feeling that the society was "mostly right" and still being used by jehovah.
this turning point has happened in the last year or so.
Welcome Goodstein -
You write with great clarity and conviction. Please post often as your situation is interesting.
You are among friends here.
i was raised as a witness in canada all my life.
the majority of my time attending watchtower meetings i was essentially never exposed to how spiritual beliefs relate to political belifes, even in terms with jw watchtower doctrine.
i grew up understanding that some witnesses had diffrent ideas on things, but was made to feel that the watchtower established many key beliefs that are required for witnesses in good standing.

Guns, Politcs and Liberties - you bite off some huge issues my friend!
Bless you for being concerned with liberties.
Mankind thrives with broad freedoms to love, learn, prosper, travel, and associate freely. These pursuits are the primary goals of humans, and no doubt the reason you have researched so much in relation to them.
Our freedoms are bound tightly along their sides by laws and politics. The fringes at the ends of our freedoms are constructs of religious thought and societal constraints. In some cultures, it's the religious and societal influence that exerts the stronger force, and the political/legal framework for individuals freedom is not so properly in effect.
the book is recommended reading in my bioethics law class.
this is a law/medicine class that combines students from the school of medicine, the school of public health, and the school of law, so a broad cross-section of people will base their opinions of jws on this book.
my fellow students include a working neonatologist, a japanese health department employee, a chinese gentleman who works for some chinese gov't agency, a north african lawyer, an australian international health care worker, an undergrad ethics professor from a different, but local, university, and a social worker who is a fellow at a local pediatric bioethics foundation.
Band - good for your Mom.
When we were new witnesses - circa 1970, my wife had just graduated as a Registered Nurse. Her medical text books were still everywhere in the house and she would tell me about the proceedures and medical decisions made at our wonderful, local hospital where she worked - all very scientificaly impressive proceedures by serious professionals.
One of the elders at that sametime, was a Rutherford era relic, who bad-mouthed doctors at every possible occasion. This man became ill with escalating pain and his trusted Quackopath diagnosed a HUGE tapeworm, and treated him with the acceptable homeopathic 'cures'. His condition, and pain increased to where he could only function in a semi-standing position in a lazy-boy. All this at his home, as he had no use for hospitals and medical doctors. (both of which were free in our province).
He died a very unpleasant death -of untreated cancer , such ignorance, sad.

Infowarrior-
I made a fresh pot of coffee just so I could enjoy your post - thank you for sharing it, with the thoughtful people on this forum!
I too am a Canuck and was a JW for many years (early70's till mid 90's). I wasn't raised as a witness, so I didn't when young, and still don't suffer from the watchtowers narrow, myopic and intentional, misportrayal of the beautiful peoples of the world as 'Satanic'.
The term 'worldly' in the early days of global navigation, described those who were lucky (and hardy) enough to travel widely. What the worldy journalists and intellectuals saw and recorded by writing and illustrations, is the amazing study we now call history - it was astonishing news back then!
To be worldly was to have learned, to have experienced, to have seen with ones own faculties, the amazing diversity of races, beliefs, cultures and environments in which mankind was able to survive and thrive. To be worldy is to be curious, adventuresome, and in constant wonderment at the realityof the universe as it still reveals to us.
You sound like a worldly guy - researching and wondering. Good for you my friend - keep up the good work!
